SilverTree is a free game. This means that the source code is available to be studied, modified, and distributed. Most projects look for help with testing, documentation, graphics, etc., as well. |
SilverTree is a 3D role-playing game game created by David White. The latest version of the game is 0.2.1 released on November 17th, 2007 (this version marks the game as complete, although it still requires polishing).
Goal[edit]
White wants to use the experience gained from Wesnoth to build a GPL RPG making use of newest 3D technology, very much unlike Wesnoth itself which was rather classic 2D pixel art.[1]
Development[edit]
Parts of the game-play will remain the same as Wesnoth. For example, fights are turn based on a hexagonal field grid, but the grids in SilverTree are 3d, and warped to follow a more natural looking terrain. Another difference is that cities now play a more interesting, but less pivotal role. Instead of trying to "capture" as many cities as possible to gain gold, cities are now where the player spends gold, and usually where the player recruits new units.
