Palapeli is a jigsaw puzzle game from the KDEGames collection.
Gameplay[edit]
In Finnish palapeli means 'jigsaw puzzle'[2], so the core gameplay should not come as a surprise. The player can move the pieces freely over the game area. When the interlocking sides of neighbouring pieces are placed closer than an adjustable threshold distance, they snap together and will henceforth move together. At the bottom of the game area is a progress bar which reaches 100% upon completion of the puzzle. The player is then also presented with a congratulatory message.
Progress is automatically saved. The player can abandon their current puzzle at any time and return to their puzzle collection, possibly to work on another puzzle for a while.
The game comes with a few puzzles included, but the interface allows easy addition of new puzzles. To add a new puzzle to the collection, the player needs to select an image, an approximate number of pieces and a slicing method which determines the shape of the pieces. Available slicers range from simple rectangular pieces over classic jigsaw shapes, to more exotic forms such as pentagonal, rhombi-trihexagonal and irregular grids.
