Crystal Space is a free engine. This means that the source code is available to be studied, modified, and distributed. Most projects look for help with testing, documentation, graphics, etc., as well. |
Crystal Space is a 3D game development kit licensed under the LGPL. For game development, they developed Crystal Entity Layer which turns Crystal Space into a game engine.[2] Interaction is possible through the Python programming language and XML.
Development[edit]
The Crystal Space project has participated in the Summer of Code program sponsored by Google in 2006[3], 2007[4]2008[5] and 2009.[6]
According to Ohloh.net, development activity in the source code repository dates back to January 2000. It also indicates that the engine was written in the C++ programming language.[7]
The Crystal Space development team is composed of many members.[8]
The Crystal Space project cooperates with the Blender project to create Yo Frankie!.[9]
