Plee the Bear is a 2D platform game in which the player controls a bear in single or multiplayer mode. As of 2015-01-07, the latest version of the game is 0.7.
The game's source code is licensed under the GNU GPL v3, while the game's media is under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license v3.[2][3]
It is written in the C++ programming language using the SDL library.

It is mainly developed by Julien Jorge and Sébastien Angibaud, with the help of several contributors[1].
Since the end of april 2010, the website features a weblog where news on the upcoming releases are presented. A forum has also been installed for better exchanges with the users.

Is currently down but the source code can be found on GitHub. See link to archive below. The game’s web site until 2014 provided:
- the source code for the game and the editor (in one archive)

- Debian GNU/Linux and GNU/kFreeBSD
- As of 2009-10-02, Debian testing (squeeze) includes packages with version 0.4.1-2 for amd64 hppa i386 ia64 mips mipsel sparc, unstable also includes packages for kfreebsd-amd64 kfreebsd-i386. There is also a 0.2.1-2 package for m68k.[4]
- Editors are provided as a package called "bear-factory", version 0.4.1-2, for amd64 hppa i386 ia64 kfreebsd-amd64 kfreebsd-i386 mips mipsel sparc.[5]
