Link templates[edit]
Link templates are templates for wrapping external links, like:
- sources cited
- most sources are on the Internet
- some sources may be paper; they may share parts of their templates with the link templates.
- not so reliable sources like electronic messages may also need templates.
- websites and other servers linked to
- those may not necessarily have an “author” important to mention near the link, but they still can have their relative importance in the article.
- sometimes a website is mentioned in more than one place. Should it be a footnote then?
- Issues
- References and other ELs can have the same link. Either you have a reference and a normal external link, or you have the same thing as a reference and a link hard to find. Does that affect search engine rankings?
- A reference page can change, and then the access date will be obsolete for one reference to it but not for the other.
